SPANDA

 Retreat

Join Sacha on a sacred journey to the Island paradise of Sri Lanka.

With over a decade of experience teaching,  hosting retreats and trainings around the globe, Sacha guides a beautifully curated experience and brings a wealth of knowledge to her facilitation.

After an extremely successful, sold out 2025 retreat, Sacha is delighted to return to the extraordinary Kurulu Bay - a private sanctuary, surrounded by lush greenery overlooking Koggala Lake, Sri Lanka’s largest and most scenic body of water. Every element of your retreat home has been carefully considered to offer space, privacy and tranquility.

The word "Spanda" is a Sanskrit term that comes from the non-dual Kashmir Shivaism lineage of the Classical Tantric tradition. It describes the subtle, constant creative pulsation, or "sacred tremor," that underlies all existence - a rhythmic movement of expansion and contraction, stillness and activity, that brings forth and sustains the universe. This universal vibration is present in phenomena like breath, tides, and seasons, and also resides within our own thoughts and emotions.

Through the modalities of Yoga, Somatic Movement, Breath Work, Kriya, Reiki and Sound, this retreat invites you on a journey inward. Connecting deeply with self, thus feeling the interconnectedness that exists in all life.

As always, the retreat will be guided with inclusivity in mind. Spanda Retreat will cater beginners through to seasoned practitioners. All are welcome.

Be immersed in the experience of a lifetime, and leave feeling nourished, balanced and harmoniously alive.

PRACTICES & IMMERSIONS

THE KITCHEN

The Kitchen at Kurulu Bay embraces a culinary landscape shaped by its sea-to-table philosophy. Mindful attention is placed on an unsurpassed quality of ingredients. Sourcing fresh seafood and sustainable harvested produce from the surrounding area, prepared in the open kitchen using organic oils and ingredients and served as simple, elegant dishes with a distinctive touch of the chefs. The culinary experience is framed by spectacular views over Koggala Lake, accompanied by a fine selection of beverages.

The retreat includes Breakfast and Dinner, plus an array of snacks and fresh coconuts to keep you hydrated and your energy sustained throughout the day.

SUITES AND RATES

Boutique accomodation tucked away on the island’s largest natural lake, Koggala Lake.

Commissioned by award-winning architects A00, each suite allows for a sense of intimacy with nature while affording unparalleled views of the Koggala Lake. Spread throughout the undulating landscape exist three unique clusters, each with its own character and architectural style.

The Tree Houses touch lightly onto the steep hillside, floating over the views while the Garden Suites cascade down with the gentle landscape, a modern and minimalist statement nestled into the terrain, the cottages delicately scattered around the scanctuary.

KOGGALA LAKE BOAT SAFARI

Take a tour down the largest body of water in Sri Lanka to Cinnamon Island. Experience local wild life, feeding monkeys, watching birds of prey, perhaps even a crocodile. See how cinnamon is pealed, dried and stored on the island whilst sipping on some locally made tea.

The trip takes around 2 hours ($20 USD per person)

SURFING

There is a huge and vibrant surf culture on the southern coast of Sri Lanka and Weligama is where most surfers flock to test out the waves. Ahangama to Weligama is just a short 20-minute ride in a tuk-tuk.

($75 USD per person including transport and boards).

SHOPS + CAFES

Ahangama is one of the South Coasts hot spots. They just get it right when it comes to design, decor and food.

Some of my favorite spots: The Kip, Black Honey Cafe, Cactus + Lighthouse

Pineapple press news is an incredible guide to check out entertainment, wellness, food + drinks all over Sri Lanka.

TESTIMONIALS

Shanna Pan

"Sacha gives her heart and soul into her practice and her retreats, which is evident from the moment you step foot onto the location. Every detail is considered carefully to ensure you have an exceptional experience, and that you leave feeling nourished and reinvigorated.

Her retreats are well planned and hosted in beautiful locations, to ensure the environment mirrors the intent of the retreat. There is space for you to immerse yourself as deeply as you would like into the practice of yoga, and also to step away and find time for yourself so you can create the individual experience that you need.

I cannot recommend Sacha and her retreats highly enough, and left Soma in Sri Lanka with a deep sense of santosha."
